SysKid Close up: Let’s meet P23-IDIBELL (Fundació Institut d’Investigació Biomèdica de Bellvitge)
The research team is gathering some investigators from the Nephrology and Renal Transplantation group at the Hospital Bellvitge (Catalonia). Josep M Cruzado has been the principal investigator of some research projects related with hepatocyte growth factor gene therapy (Cruzado JM et al, Diabetes 2004) and HGF-related renal regeneration and its relationship with M1/M2 macrophage differentiation (Flaquer M et al, Diabetologia 2012). Part of this research is currently underway as we are active members of the European Consortium Syskid funded by EU-FP7. Our team was also interested in the pathogenic role of the TORC1 pathway in renal hypertrophy. We described for the first time the involvement of this pathway in diabetic nephropathy (Lloberas N et al, J Am Soc Nephrol 2006) and the synergism with PP2A signaling (Flaquer et al, Life Sci 2010). The team is composed by Maria Flaquer, Elena Crespo, Joan Torras, Josep M. Cruzado and Josep M. Grinyó.
